Biological Testing

Water quality is essential to patient safety throughout healthcare environments. Bacteria and endotoxins in water systems can contribute to contamination, biofilm formation, equipment problems, treatment complications, and potential risks to patients. Eden Laboratory is NYS ELAP certified for applicable microbiological colony count testing and also provides endotoxin testing to help healthcare facilities monitor their water systems and identify potential concerns before they impact patient care. We serve hospitals, dialysis units, central sterile processing departments, clinical laboratories, and dental facilities, providing reliable testing to help maintain safe, high-quality water for critical healthcare applications.

Metals Analysis

Water can naturally pick up trace amounts of metals as it travels through plumbing, piping, equipment, and water treatment systems. Elevated levels can affect water quality, contribute to equipment damage or performance issues, and, in certain healthcare applications, create potential risks to patients. Eden Laboratory provides chemical analysis for metals using established, validated methods and quality-controlled procedures. Our testing helps healthcare facilities monitor their water systems and ensure that water used in patient care, treatment, sterilization, and laboratory applications meets rigorous quality requirements and supports patient safety.

Anions and Organic Carbons

Anions such as fluoride, chloride, sulfate, nitrate, and phosphate, as well as organic carbon, can affect water treatment systems and the equipment that relies on them. These contaminants can contribute to corrosion, scaling, fouling, residues, increased conductivity, microbial growth, and deterioration of filtration and purification components. In healthcare applications, these issues can ultimately affect equipment performance, treatment processes, and the quality of water used in patient care. Eden Laboratory tests for these parameters to help identify conditions that may compromise filtration and purification performance, accelerate equipment deterioration, and affect the reliability of critical healthcare water systems.

Certified Methods and Procedures

Eden Laboratory's testing is performed using established methods and procedures appropriate to the application, including applicable ANSI/AAMI standards, AAMI RD52 and RD62 for dialysis water, AAMI ST108 for water used in the processing of medical devices, CLSI, EPA and Standard Methods. As a NYS Department of Health ELAP-certified laboratory, we maintain the quality systems, documentation, proficiency testing, and other requirements applicable to our accredited testing. Our laboratory also adheres to applicable TNI/NELAC requirements, supporting the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of the results we provide.
